Course Syllabus

 

Course Title: Cha Cha (on 2) Level 1

 

Course Description:

This course covers the basics of New York Style Cha Cha. The musicality is thorough in it's explanation of how the music and dance connect, dancing inside the rhythm (on 2). Dancing in the "slot" and dance floor etiquette is explained. The basic time step and variations are covered (regular, front, back, side, and in-place). Basic turning techniques are covered (right, left, hesitation left, and half right/left).

Partnering work includes basic turning patterns from the various partnering positions (one arm and two arm hold positions for spot turns and crossbody patterns) and variations are taught.

Student Performance Objectives

Sucessful completion means students are able to perform the open footwork techniques to the rhythm of the music. Male students are able to lead and female students are able to follow basic turning patterns while dancing to the rhythm of the music.
